Meghan Marie Nelson

Our beautiful Megs is singing with the angels…

Meghan Marie Nelson, January 3, 1986 – January 23, 2018 – Noblesville, Indiana – After a brave nine year battle with a brain tumor, Meghan passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and best friends, Jenn Colson and Claire Herne.

Meghan was born in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She lived in Negaunee with her two sisters and her Mom and Dad. In July of 2000, Meghan moved with her family to Rio Rancho, New Mexico. In October of 2003, Meghan moved back to the Midwest with her family. They settled in Carmel, Indiana where Meghan graduated from Carmel High School in 2004.

Meghan loved hanging out with her friends, listening to music/going to concerts, being with her family, the Indianapolis Colts as well as the Green Bay Packers, and she loved her little Gray Bear to the moon and back!

In March of 2009, Meghan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. During her nine year battle, she endured two brain surgeries, proton radiation, oral chemotherapy, infusions and radiation. After her second surgery last August, her tumor turned cancerous. Meghan never stopped fighting and she never lost her positive attitude. She was always such a little ray of sunshine for all who were lucky enough to know her. Meghan was a true warrior…she will be forever missed…life will never be the same…

Meghan worked at Carrington Mortgage Company in Westfield, as a Customer Service Representative. Working with the public can be challenging, but Meghan always loved a good challenge! She excelled at her job winning many contests and awards.

Meghan is survived by her precious little boy, Grayson Parker York; her parents, Kirk and Colleen Nelson of Westfield, IN; Grandma, Mary Nelson of Gold Canyon, Arizona; sisters, Erin Ferguson (Andrew) of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kristi Nelson (Mark Samarasinghe) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; nieces Jayden Rodriguez, Zoie Rodriguez and Leena Rodriguez, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; one nephew, Mason Samarasinghe of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Aunt Cindy (Lee) Shaw, of Schaumburg, Illinois; boyfriend, Tony York of Noblesville, Indiana; along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. Preceding her in death was Meghan’s Grandpa, Duane Nelson. In lieu of flowers, a college fund has been set up for Grayson, at Huntington Bank. Please make checks payable to Grayson Parker York, c/o Kirk Nelson, 16144 Howden Drive, Westfield, Indiana 46074.

Meghan touched the lives of so many and maintained her trademark sense of humor (with just a little touch of sarcasm and a little smirk) all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Visitation is from 2:00 – 4:00pm at Indiana Funeral Care, 8147 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation, with Pastor Duane Quesenberry officiating,

                                                                           in the end,

                                                                                 it’s not the

                                                           years in a life,

                                                                                 it’s the LIFE

                                                                                    in the years.

    To the family of Meghan

While I haven’t met you personally, I couldn’t help but share my deepest condolences and let you know that you are on the minds of many. My heart is heavy for you in your time of loss. I hope that scriptures like Revelation 21:3,4 & John 5:28,29 prove to be as a great comfort to you as they have to many. As you read those scriptures, just imagine what life will be like- especially imagine a reunion with your dear, Meghan . May you hold close these promises from God.

    Much love,
    Autumn
